The Guardian, a condominium tower currently under construction in Victoria Park, officially becomes tallest residential tower in the city

August 27, 2014
CALGARY – The construction of the 41st level is now underway at The Guardian North condominium tower in Victoria Park, officially making it the tallest residential tower in Calgary. The concrete structure, now at 128 metres, surpasses the previous record holder, the neighboring ArriVa tower. The Guardian will reach a final height of 147 metres (482 feet) and 44-stories later this year and is expected to be completed in the spring of 2015.
The Guardian North is the first of two identical towers being constructed in The Guardian project. The second tower, also currently under construction, is slated for completion in 2016. The two towers together will house 620 residential units while the mixed-use podium will contain parking, residential amenities, neighborhood retail, and live-work units. The towers are constructed of reinforced concrete and the façade is clad with glass window walls and metal panels. The Guardian is designed by the global design and architecture firm IBI Group.
The Guardian towers are located in Victoria Park, an area of Calgary that was largely dominated by warehouses and vacant lots a little over 10 years ago. The completion of the two condominium towers will add significantly to the population of neighborhood and will be a highly-visible symbol of the urban renaissance happening in Victoria Park. Nearby development includes the new East Victoria Park, the 200-room Mariott International ClubSport Hotel, the National Music Center, and the New Central Library.
The Guardian is located along 3rd Street SE between 11th and 12th Ave SE. One and two-bedroom units in the Guardian South range from 441 to 2619 square feet. Sales for the Guardian South are now underway and prices start in the mid- $200,000s. The Guardian Presentation Centre is located at 456-12th Avenue SE, in the historic Bungalow Victoria Park Schoolhouse.
